VIDEO: New Packers LB Christian Kirksey Gets Green Bay Fans Revved up With Championship Talk
By Brady Williams
Thank goodness for NFL free agency. While mired firmly in the 2020 sports drought, the past few days have been a beacon of hope thanks to the ludicrous number of new signings and blockbuster trades. One of the more underrated signings has been the Green Bay Packers' addition of linebacker Christian Kirksey, and on Tuesday, he let his new fans know exactly what his intentions are.
"I heard [Green Bay] was called Titletown, so let's go win us a championship," he said in a video on Twitter. "Go Pack Go."
The former Cleveland Browns captain seems to be all in on his new home, and that should have fans excited. Kirksey has recorded 484 tackles in his career, and that's a number he sounds primed to build upon in far more important games.
The six-year veteran of the league has experience in Green Bay defensive coordinator Mike Pettine's defense, so it should be a smooth transition. The Packers' defense let up the 10th-most rushing yards in the league, as well as the ninth-most rushing touchdowns. With the departure of Blake Martinez and Kyler Fackrell, they need plenty of help. Kirksey could be a great fit for their linebacker vacancy.
He's only played in nine games over the last two seasons due to injury, but if this video is any indication, he might just be in fighting shape.
