By Parker White

Last Sunday, former Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz was shot in his native Dominican Republic in what appeared to be an assassination attempt.
Ortiz's health is looking up after he was transported to Boston and underwent another surgery, but we some new details have come to light in recent days. According to Teri Thompson and Christian Red of the New York Daily News, this isn't the first time Ortiz was in danger of his life down in the DR.

"Ortiz’s white Lexus was chased and cut off by a black Mercedes SUV before crashing in front of a firehouse. Firefighters came to his assistance, according to the sources, but an official report is not believed to have been made. The incident did not appear in the media," a source told the New York Daily News.
