New York Daily News Drops Perfect Adam Gase Cover After Mike Maccagnan Massacre
By Joey Mauceri
After yesterday's shocking news broke the New York Jets had fired general manager Mike Maccagnan, reports began to surface that new head coach Adam Gase was at odds with the now former GM over many issues. This included all the money Maccagnan threw at running back Le'veon Bell this offseason. Leave it to the New York Daily News to print a cover that perfectly mocks the bizarre situation surrounding the Jets right now:
Oh boy, not a good look for the AFC East team.
The move was certainly a head-scratcher, as Maccagnan was the GM for the past four years, drafting Sam Darnold last year and Quinnen Williams in April. Firing Maccagnan after allowing him to basically craft the team's 2019 roster has many people dumbfounded with the decision.
There certainly seems to be a lot of optimism going into this Jets season, with a new head coach, improved defense, and a second-year quarterback poised for a breakout. This news does however cloud all of that, and the team is going to have to avoid the curse of acting like the "same old Jets."
Which team will show up in 2019? Fans are hoping for a new and improved version.
