VIDEO: Matt McGloin Goes Off in Bizarre Mid-Game XFL Interview Before Blasting Coach to His Face
By Jack Murphy
One of the features that distinguishes the XFL from the NFL is the overload of interviews that are conducted with players and coaches during the game, during all breaks, and during seemingly every empty moment of airtime. While things were mostly tame during Week 1, players are bound to lose a little of their cool when questioned about poor performance when they are still involved in the heat of the game. New York Guardians quarterback Matt McGloin became the first XFL player to demonstrate his frustration during a mid-game interview.
After a poor performance, McGloin was evidently not excited about having to interview before heading to the locker room at halftime. He did not hold back explaining what the offense has to do differently: namely, everything. McGloin seemed to have some pent up frustrations about how Guardians head coach Kevin Gilbride runs his offense.
After lashing out at the reporter, McGloin later confronted his head coach about the game plan.
McGloin eventually found himself on the bench, upended by his backup. Whether it was because of his performance or short temper, the Guardians seem to now have a huge question mark for their situation under center.
