New York Post Begs Robert Kraft to Continue Charity Work and Buy Mets

The New York Mets and their fans have been saddled with the incompetency of the Wilpon family for a good while, and Mets fans are searching for just about anyone to take over after the failed bid from Steve Cohen to purchase the team.

The New York Post's preferred replacement came from out of left field, as they think fellow New Yorker Robert Kraft, who recently donated thousands of masks to ease the burden of the coronavirus, should continue helping the city by purchasing the Mets.

Kraft has plenty of ties to New York, as he attended Columbia University (their team now plays football at Robert A. Kraft Field) and owns an apartment in Manhattan.

The three main points which writer Ken Davidoff uses to argue Kraft is a clear upgrade over the Wilpons are wealth, experience, and competency. Not only have the Patriots been a model of consistency, but they have sustained their success over a two-decade period, while any short bursts of Mets success fizzle out as quickly as they start.

In theory, this could be a solid match, even if in practice this is unlikely to happen.

Kraft might have been able to work his magic and turn the Patriots from a doormat into the picture of success, but lightning might not strike twice. Still, his last name isn't Wilpon, therefore he is an upgrade by default.
