New York Post Finally Digs Deep on Giancarlo Stanton's Mysterious Injury Timeline
By Max Scoli
The injury bug just refuses to leave the New York Yankees alone.
Stanton is just one of 15 Yankees listed on the injury report. Having this many injured players can undoubtedly hurt a franchise's shot at winning baseball games, but in this case, the organization's injury woes are said to have contributed to Giancarlo's regression during his rehab stint. Really?
Since Aaron Judge is out with a left oblique strain, Stanton reportedly was told he would need to play the outfield, which could have put some undue pressure on the former NL MVP. Despite some knee pain from a HBP in a previous game, Stanton continued running hard in his rehabilitation to prepare himself to play in the field.
As a result, he experienced a calf strain.
Stanton was scheduled to play Tuesday, but was scratched from the contest with left knee/calf discomfort. While fans were unsure what this meant in terms of his rehab, it is now known that he will return to the injured list. Brutal.
Yankee fans can only hope for the best as they continue to watch star after star land on the IL.
