NFL and Dolphins Will Cover Medical Bills for Kendrick Norton After Horrific Accident
By Scott Rogust
Tragedy struck the NFL and the Miami Dolphins on the morning of July 4. 22-year-old defensive tackle Kendrick Norton was involved in a serious rollover car accident, resulting in paramedics amputating his left arm at the scene.
With an influx of medical bills heading his way, the NFL and the Dolphins are stepping in. Norton's agent, Malki Kawa, revealed on Tuesday that Norton's medical expenses will be covered under the league's and Miami's insurance policy.
Due to the unfortunate accident, Norton's NFL career has come to an end. Now, it's about adjusting to life after football. A GoFundMe page was created on Monday to provide Norton additional financial support. In just one day, the page raised over $10,000.
Kawa revealed that Norton underwent surgery for his left arm on Tuesday, and still has two more procedures to go. The goal is for Norton to receive enough funds to pay for a prosthetic arm.
Norton was a 2018 seventh-round pick by the Carolina Panthers, who was later signed off the team's practice squad by the Dolphins.
Miami has the option to place Norton on the non-football injury list, which would pay him a portion, or all, of his $495,000 non-guaranteed salary for this upcoming season.
With Kendrick Norton's football dream coming to an abrupt and sad end, the NFL and Miami Dolphins stepped up and ensured he won't have to worry about any medical bills.
