NFL Denies Discipline is Near for Patriots in Spygate 2.0 Investigation
By Mark Powell

Despite some Adam Schefter speculation earlier on Wild Card weekend regarding the NFL's investigation into the Patriots' alleged wrongdoing before their matchup against the Bengals late this season, Roger Goodell and Co. aren't actually nearing a decision after all.
In a statement released by the league office, the NFL claims there's no reason to speculate New England will face punishment, as the investigation has yet to reach its conclusion.
Statement from NFL to update investigation on Patriots: “The investigation is ongoing and there has been no discussion of any potential discipline. Any suggestion of potential discipline or a timeline on an announcement is pure speculation.”

This melodrama began when filmmakers of the Patriots' documentary series 'Do Your Job' videoed the Bengals sideline during their game against the Browns. Given New England's history with bending the rules in this regard, Cincinnati was rightfully sketched out, reporting this detail to the league office.
The NFL's investigation of the Patriots' video violation has not turned up any evidence thus far implicating Coach Bill Belichick or the team's football staff.... https://t.co/15P8h40xC9

Connecting New England's football operations staff to the mistakes of some independent contractors is no easy task, as it's tough to believe the Patriots would be bold (or stupid) enough to make such a mistake twice.
