NFL Draft Prospect and Former South Carolina WR Bryan Edwards Suffers Broken Foot
By Michael Luciano
One of the most physically imposing, experienced wide receivers in the 2020 NFL Draft will not get the chance to strut his stuff at the NFL Combine.
South Carolina wide receiver Bryan Edwards announced that he will not do any on-field drills at the combine thanks to a broken foot. This is a tough blow for the durable four-year starter.
Edwards is the all-time leading receiver in Gamecocks history. Despite playing most of the season with a true freshman quarterback in Ryan Hilinski, Edwards managed to catch 71 passes for 816 yards and six touchdowns.
Edwards is almost a lock to go on Day 2 of the NFL Draft, and he could even manage to sneak into the second round. He needs to work on his release off the line of scrimmage and getting separation, but this is a physical receiver with sticky hands, excellent route-running ability, and a tremendous knack for making plays after the catch.
If the foot isn't going to trouble him into the regular season, which it doesn't look like it will, Edwards is still worth using a top 100 pick on, as his physical traits could help him become a Pro Bowler if he gets a tad more explosive.
