NFL Fans Can Thank the Redskins for Stealing Thaddeus Moss Away From the Patriots
By Andrew Gullotta
Tight end Thaddeus Moss, the son of NFL legend Randy Moss, was one of the biggest names available in the undrafted free agent pool. The Washington Redskins ended up bringing the LSU product to the nation's capital.
As it turns out, the New England Patriots also tried to sign Moss, along with the Bengals, shortly after he joined the Skins. In short, NFL fans can thank Washington for calling him first, because that was paramount in Moss' decision.
Just imagine Moss becoming a force on Bill Belichick's Patriots. Every non-New England fan wouldn't be able to stomach it.
During the Bill Belichick era, the Patriots have been known for seamlessly incorporating tight ends into their high-powered offense, most notably with Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez and Martellus Bennett.
Moss certainly has the skills and size to produce at a level that would have given Belichick another frightening weapon in the passing game. After all, we saw what he could do in the right system with LSU. After taking two years off from football, Moss caught 47 passes for 570 yards and 4 touchdowns en route to a National Championship. He's a raw talent, but the right coaching could very well give him the guidance to become a force, and it's safe to say nobody would have enjoyed seeing him become that with the Pats.
So for all the Patriots haters out there, you owe the Redskins a big "thank you" for picking up the phone faster.
