NFL Investigators Rumored to Be 'Frustrated' in Attempt to Connect Patriots to Videographer Scandal

A new wrinkle has emerged in the NFL's investigation into the incident that saw a longtime New England Patriots videographer get caught video-taping the Cincinnati Bengals sideline just a week before the teams were scheduled to meet.

While Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has denied any wrongdoing on behalf of the team's football operations, the league has reportedly been dogged in their pursuit of every last fact. But, as the league has looked further into the incident, they have been "frustrated" by their inability to connect any wrongdoing to the football staff itself, per Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.

As of this time, the NFL has not established any connections between football personnel and the actions of the videographer or related A/V staffers, having collected several personal electronic devices as evidence.

While the video of the incident itself feels highly suspicious, the motivations behind it have been suspect from the start, as the premise of a double-digit win team needing to cheat in order to prevail against a one-win team feels dubious, to say the least.

With any punishments for this incident expected to come out in the next week or so, the Patriots are likely in the clear, barring further developments, on the football side of things. But that apparently hasn't stopped the league from insisting that not a single stone remain unturned.
