Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett could miss time in the 2020 season after hitting Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph in the head with his helmet. But the NFL is banking on Garrett cleaning up his act to get back into the league.

While Garrett will miss the remainder of this season, the league anticipates that he will not miss any games in 2020.

Garrett is scheduled to meet with the league, who wants to see how he reacts to the long suspension they doled out last week. The NFL will be "open-minded" in listening to Garrett, and they will reinstate him if they feel like he has turned over a new leaf as it pertains to his behavior.

Garrett, who will forfeit $1.2 million in salary after being suspended for at least the rest of the season, emerged as one of the best defensive players in the NFL in the last few years, as he had 10 sacks in 10 games this season as well as 30.5 in his 37-game NFL career.

Garrett needs to show that he is truly apologetic and contrite, or he could remain away from the game for the foreseeable future.
