The Philadelphia Eagles did the sports media world in need of content a huge favor by selecting Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Many scratched their heads in confusion after the team signed signal caller Carson Wentz to a massive four-year contract extension last year. But, it appears that Wentz's job is safe...for now.

According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Hurts will see the field a lot in 2020...potentially as a running back!

“Just in talking to one Eagles source, he said ‘This guy might be able to contribute as a straight running back. That’s how good we think he is. That’s what we think of his skill set,’" said Garofolo, via Bleeding Green Nation.com.

The Eagles obviously selected Hurts with the 53rd overall pick to serve as a contingency plan in case Wentz went down with an injury. But, the team is so in love with Hurts' athleticism that they feel he can contribute on the offense like Taysom Hill does with the New Orleans Saints, even as a running back.

Before you scoff at the idea of Wentz handing the ball off to Hurts, Eagles fans, just open your minds for a bit. In his senior season with the Oklahoma Sooners, Hurts rushed for 1,298 yards and 20 touchdowns on 233 carries. 5.6 yards per carry? That's pretty damn good for a quarterback.

After hearing the reported plan for Hurts in Philly, we simply can't wait to see Doug Pederson attempt to pull it off this upcoming season. It's so crazy it just might work.
