NFL Thanksgiving Halftime Show 2019
By Chris Pyo

Every NFL season, the Dallas Cowboys play a game on Thanksgiving Day in order to kick off the Salvation Army's Red Kettle campaign. To assist with that, there's an annual Thanksgiving Halftime Show featuring an A-list entertainer (depending on your music taste) that plays a set.
Who is Playing the NFL Thanksgiving Halftime Show?
Last year, Meghan Trainor helped raise $142.7 million for the Salvation Army, and Ellie Goulding, this year's performer, will be aiming to exceed that total with her performance at AT&T Stadium during the Cowboys-Bills game.

There was a lot of controversy surrounding this year's NFL Thanksgiving Halftime Show after Goulding reportedly threatened to pull out due to concerns and backlash over the Salvation Army's perceived prejudice against the LGBQT community.
Goulding had originally posted a series of pictures on Instagram of her volunteering at a Salvation Army center in New York City. Following the post, she was bombarded with comments from fans and critics alike about her support for an allegedly homophobic organization.
Eventually, Goulding put out a public statement stating that unless the Salvation Army made "a solid, committed pledge or donation to the LGBTQ community,” she would pull out.

The Salvation Army did indeed comment on this, saying "We'd like to thank Ellie Goulding and her fans for shedding light on misconceptions and encouraging others to learn the truth about The Salvation Army's mission to serve all, without discrimination."
After that, Goulding officially confirmed that she would be performing this year, fans can expect to be treated to a halftime show presumably featuring some of Goulding's biggest hits, including "Lights" and "Love Me Like You Do."
