Nicholas Castellanos Has Been on a Ridiculous Tear Since Coming to the Cubs
By Parker White
It's amazing what can happen when you change teams and go from one of the worst teams in baseball to a playoff contender overnight.
Outfielder Nicholas Castellanos when from the Detroit Tigers to the Chicago Cubs, and immediately he's a different player and someone that can be relied upon to produce in the batter's box.
In eight games with the Cubs, Castellanos is slashing .424/.457/.879 with 9 extra-base hits (3 home runs) and 5 RBI. He may not be a stalwart defensively, but he provides some versatility and can play both corner outfield spots and can even slot in at corner infield spots, if necessary.
To his credit, Castellanos was heating up with the Tigers before being dealt to the Northside. Since the All-Star break, the 27-year-old is slashing .291/.324/.573 with 5 home runs and 9 RBI.
Castellanos was the exact player the Cubs needed to improve this offense, and he's benefiting greatly, as he heads into free agency following the 2019 season.
