Nick Caserio's Contract Has Absurd Clause That Doesn't Allow Him to Interview With Other Teams
By Sean Facey

The Patriots made a massive fuss over the Texans' attempts to interview Nick Caserio earlier in the week, even filing a tampering case with the league. Now the reason behind the uproar seems to have come to light.
Are they really this overprotective with their employees? For crying out load.
New England's director of player personnel's contract has a rather shady clause that literally doesn't allow him to interview with other teams.
Seems Nick Caserio has a clause in his contract that says he can’t interview with other teams. If so, I hope he got millions for that clause.

The Patriots must have been extremely convincing to get Caserio to sign his contract, because that's just downright ridiculous. They literally won't allow him to even consider the possibility of a job with another team.
It's so typical of the Patriots, though. They've exploited the rules to such a drastic extent that they're now gaining an advantage in the construction of the front office.
It's a shame the Texans did everything by the book and might now have to head into the season without a general manager at the helm.
With Houston dropping its pursuit of Nick Caserio, there now is a scenario under which the Texans will go this season without an official General Manager. For less than a year, Bill O’Brien, Jack Easterby and the scouting dept could divvy up the duties.

How the Patriots even got Caserio to sign away his ability to pursue outside avenues of employment is beyond understanding.
The only thing that's clear, though, is that he isn't going anywhere without their consent.
