4 Best Trade Destinations for Jaguars QB Nick Foles
By Jerry Trotta
Just one year after signing then-free agent Nick Foles to a monster four-year, $88 million contract, the Jacksonville Jaguars may be looking to offload the 31-year-old signal caller.
According to Peter King of NBC Sports, the Jaguars are keen on rolling with undrafted sensation Gardner Minshew as their starting quarterback in 2020, and would, in an ideal world, find a trade partner for Foles.
With that report hot off the presses, let's highlight some of the best trade fits for Foles.
4. Chicago Bears
There are two reasons why any available quarterback -- whether it be via trade or free agency -- is linked to Chicago: Mitch Trubisky's glaring struggles and the fact that the Bears defense could lead the team to a Super Bowl behind competent quarterback play. There are doubts in the Windy City of Trubisky being the right man for the job, and, unless Matt Nagy is off his rocker, Foles would likely be given a chance at competing for the starting role.
3. New England Patriots
This idea may be met with venom from fans in Foxborough, but it's one that isn't as outlandish as some may think. Putting aside the fact that Foles' Eagles toppled the Patriots in the Super Bowl a few years back, we really couldn't think of a better fit for the veteran QB in terms of offensive schemes. He would undoubtedly thrive in Josh McDaniels' system.
2. Los Angeles Chargers
Anytime you have a collection of offensive weaponry like the Chargers, that team will always be considered a good fit for a veteran quarterback. Does a team as talented as Los Angeles, who may draft a quarterback in April, really want to punt a chance at competing next season by rolling out Tyrod Taylor at QB? With Anthony Lynn likely coaching for his job in 2020, you better believe that he'll be looking to acquire a proven quarterback. Foles might just be his guy.
1. Indianapolis Colts
Jacoby Brissett is a fine quarterback, but his inconsistency in 2019 proved that he's not properly equipped to lead the Colts to the postseason and beyond. Enter Foles, who would likely be given a fair shot at winning the starting job in Indianapolis behind one of the NFL's most formidable offensive lines. Given Foles' concerning injury history, the Colts would be a perfect match.
