Nick Nurse Cares Way More About Visiting Justin Trudeau Than Going to the White House
By Jerry Trotta
We'll try to avoid being political here, but we all know that a plethora of franchises across several major sports have refrained from visiting the White House upon winning their respective championships ever since Donald Trump entered The Oval Office in 2016.
And for those organizations that did accept The President's invitation, some star players have even boycotted the trip.
When it comes to Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse, however, he prefers to visit the Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau at Parliament Hill. In fact, the first-year HC didn't even acknowledge the idea of going to the United States' capital.
Nurse has never been shy of proclaiming his love for Canada, as he recently agreed to coach the national team at the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup. But to swiftly dismiss the concept of shaking hands with Mr. Trump says a lot about his love for the North.
Let's not be quick to forget that the Golden State Warriors didn't visit the White House either in 2017 nor 2018, with Steve Kerr and Steph Curry leading that campaign.
It has yet to be reported if President Trump would even consider inviting the Raptors to the White House, but we now have a good inclination, thanks to Nurse, that Toronto will most likely not accept any potential proposition.
