Nick Saban Only Hates the Transfer Portal Because He Loves Blocking Players From Leaving Alabama

Alabama head coach Nick Saban spoke at SEC Media Days on Wednesday, and the topic of the transfer portal was brought up.
On the surface, Saban is fine with players transferring, but he's not a fan of the frequency in which it's happening in recent months.

“The issue with the transfer portal is we've gotten very liberal in giving people waivers, so, when we do that, it becomes free agency, which I don't think is good for college football. I don't think it's good for fans,” Saban said.
Nick Saban said 65 waivers were granted transfers, exacerbating the tendency for players to jump schools. 'Everybody's expectation is if I transfer, I can get a waiver. That's not a good thing.'

Saban may truly believe what he was preaching at SEC Media Days about the transfer portal, but another reason why he doesn't like it is because he personally doesn't have the same kind of control of keeping players away from conference opponents and teams on their schedule.
I mean, this is the same coach who blocked backup center Brandon Kennedy from not only going to Auburn or Tennessee, but the Citadel because they were on Alabama's schedule that year.
The Citadel? Really? Talk about a coach who wants all the control.
