Nike Severs Relationship With Patriots WR Antonio Brown Amid Countless Controversies
By Thomas Carannante
The dominoes continues to fall for Antonio Brown.
While his release from the Oakland Raiders helped land him in a much more desirable situation with the New England Patriots, things are still far from peachy for the wide receiver. And the latest bump in the road comes in the form of another lost endorsement, as Nike has ended its official relationship with the troubled star.
That's surely a big loss for AB, who also lost his partnership with football helmet manufacturer Xenith after sexual assault and rape allegations against him were recently made public.
On top of that, he allegedly owes thousands of dollars in bills to a doctor and a chef, both of whom filed lawsuits against him. Despite Brown's incredible athleticism and production on the field, a behemoth like Nike simply can't risk continuing such an unpredictable, potentially toxic relationship.
Up next: What the NFL decides to do with him. The league reportedly interviewed his accuser for 10 hours earlier this week, and although the statute of limitations in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania will prevent Brown from being charged there criminally, the NFL can still discipline him if it feels he violated their personal conduct policy.
