No, Taysom Hill is Not Drew Brees' Successor
By Brendan Balsamo

According to Brady Poppinga, reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson is a poor man's Taysom Hill. That must mean Hill is a Hall of Fame player. We've got bad new for New Orleans.
Hill is currently the backup for quarterback Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints. Considering 2020 might be Brees' last year in the NFL, is Hill a fitting successor for him?
No. He isn't at all.
Crazy people: “Taysom Hill is a starting QB.”

The 29-year-old BYU product has mightily struggled to find consistent playing time at one position in the league. In 424 career snaps, Hill has only thrown 13 passes. He currently has worse career passing numbers than LaDainian Tomlinson, a Hall of Fame running back, and has half the career passing yards of wide receiver Mohamad Sanu.
Both Hill and the poor man's version of him, Jackson, have only played two seasons. However, Hill's career passer rating is a 46.6 and Jackson's is 104.7, more than double Hill's.

Hill should come nowhere near the Saints starting QB spot. In the limited opportunity he has gotten in the NFL, he hasn't impressed enough as a passer to prove he's anything more than a gimmick. If the Saints want to continue to have success even after Brees retires, the route to take doesn't lie with Hill.
