Noah Syndergaard Comments on Trade Rumors as Deadline Approaches
By Michael Luciano

While his 101 MPH fastball terrified hitters for the last few seasons, Noah Syndergaard has looked like a mere mortal as the Mets continue to slide down the NL East standings.
Thor's ERA has ballooned to 4.55 this year, and he is being mentioned as a potential trade target as the Mets look to tear it down once again. Syndergaard loves New York City and being a Met, so he's a little uneasy about being traded.
Noah Syndergaard, last night, on trade rumors: "I love being a Met. If something were to ever change, it’d be definitely bittersweet just because of New York City itself, the fan base and just the guys in this clubhouse have a special place in my heart."

Interest in a young, controllable starter with one of the best repertoires in the game is certainly at a fever pitch. The Padres and Braves have thrown their hats into the ring, but the Milwaukee Brewers and Houston Astros remain the top suitors for Syndergaard's services.

Syndergaard's fastball remains hard to hit, but his slider has dipped from around 92 MPH to 88 MPH, making it much easier to square up. In his last start against the Miami Marlins, Syndergaard was sitting at 91 with his strikeout pitch, which is just what every other team in the league wanted to see.
Didn’t get to watch the start but Syndergaard sat about 91 mph with the slider today, hit 93 mph, threw 19 of them and got 7 swings and misses. Good signs, the velo being up is Marlins proof

It may look odd if and when Syndergaard ends up in another jersey, but it's necessary for Brodie Van Wagenen to retool the Mets and get this team out of the mess he created.
