Noah Syndergaard Exits Mets-Cardinals Game With Hamstring Injury
By Karl Rasmussen

Noah Syndergaard has about as much upside as any pitcher across the league. Throughout his first few seasons in the league, however, injuries have caused him to miss significant time.
Well, the Mets' hurler exited Saturday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals in the 7th inning with what the team is describing as a hamstring strain.
Noah Syndergaard has a strained right hamstring, the Mets say.

The Mets almost always downplay the severity of injuries initially. That they're calling this an outright strain -- and not "tightness" -- seems significant.
This could be bad news for the Mets, whose season has not gotten off to the start they were hoping for. If Syndergaard faces an extended absence, it may be the final straw that results in the Mets being sellers at the trade deadline.
Syndergaard has only logged 30 starts in a season once throughout his five years in the league. He made just 7 starts in 2017, 25 last year, and had completed 15 starts prior to his injury in 2019.
The Mets are officially calling this a right hamstring strain for Noah Syndergaard.

We'll see postgame how serious it is, but team officials tend to shy away from the word "strain" unless it's something at least relatively significant.
It remains to be seen how long Syndergaard will be out for, but the initial reports certainly aren't encouraging.
Hopefully Thor will be back on the mound before long, as the Mets' season could quickly slip out of grasp if he hits the shelf.
