Noah Syndergaard Leaves Yankee Stadium Sick During Subway Series for Second Straight Year

For the second straight season, New York Mets starter Noah Syndergaard had to leave Yankee Stadium during the Subway Series after getting sick.

Manager Mickey Callaway said that he doesn't expect the sickness to interfere with Syndergaard's scheduled Saturday start against the Cardinals.

Hopefully, it's not quite the same as last year's episode, where Syndergaard was sidelined for a chunk of time with hand, foot and mouth disease, spreading it to new Yankees acquisition JA Happ as well.

Maybe it would be best for the Mets if they just stopped bringing the towering flamethrower with them every time they made the trip to the Bronx, because clearly a trend is emerging here.

Even though it's not expected to have any major ramifications, it's just another sign that the baseball gods might actually be out to get the Mets. They've been hammered with injuries and oddities all year, so what's another strange illness thrown into the mix?

Perhaps it really is just some bad luck, but regardless of patterns and fortune, it's nonetheless puzzling that this has now happened in consecutive seasons to the same player.
