Noah Syndergaard Has Perfect Response to Rob Manfred and 2020 MLB Season
By Scott Rogust
Major League Baseball stooped to new lows on Monday evening. Not even a week after saying with confidence that the 2020 season will happen, commissioner Rob Manfred backed off his original claim by saying he's unsure if baseball will occur this calendar year. The players' union ended negotiations after frustrating offers, and told the league to let them know when and where to report for the season. They didn't think Manfred would threaten to cancel the season altogether.
With players showcasing a multitude of emotions on social media, New York Mets ace Noah Syndergaard had the best response.
No need to go that far, Noah! It's not your fault that the league has zero intent on having a season this year.
Back in March, the league and the MLBPA reached an agreement on the terms to play as many games as possible during the coronavirus pandemic. Ever since, the owners have spent most of their time crying poor that the lack of gate revenue would financially sink them, with some going as far to say they'd prefer to skip the upcoming season altogether. Based off Manfred's comments to ESPN's Mike Greenberg on Monday evening, that appears to be where the owners have dug their feet into the ground.
Make no mistake about it, the players want the season to commence, and that includes Syndergaard, who's out for the year due to Tommy John surgery. But they're negotiating with 30 human versions of Scrooge McDuck, who want to salvage their precious fortunes at the expense of the game.
