Noah Syndergaard to the Padres Has Always Felt Like Most Perfect Trade Fit

Noah Syndergaard is on the trade block yet again, and a number of teams have kicked around the idea of swinging a deal for him.

But no partner feels like a more perfect fit than the San Diego Padres.

It's always just felt like the right move. Syndergaard heading out to San Diego would satisfy both the Mets and the Padres for a number of reasons.

First and foremost, the Mets would be able to take solace in the fact that one of their stars wasn't being poached by a rival team like the Yankees. The Wilpons wouldn't have to worry about their enemies in the Bronx benefiting from the fruits of their labor.

The Padres also have one of the best farm systems in baseball, boasting a league-best eight top-100 prospects. The asking price for most of the Mets' starters, Syndergaard specifically, seems to be sky-high. San Diego has a tantalizingly prospect-rich farm system that contains more than enough talent to piece together a deal.

Thor would be the perfect anchor for their young rotation. The 26-year-old Syndergaard is in his fifth season at the MLB level, and he could serve as a strong mentor for guys like Chris Paddack and Joey Lucchesi.

It makes all the sense in the world for both parties involved, especially the Padres. A trade gives San Diego a true ace to compliment their rising stars, and it gives the Mets a cross-coast partner to pilfer a king's ransom of prospects from.

Everything about it just feels right. If the Padres want to contend and the Mets want to refresh their farm system, then it's a match made in trade heaven.
