Nolan Arenado Calls Out Rockies Over 'Disrespect' After Supposed End of Trade Talks
The Colorado Rockies have reportedly listened to trade rumors for Nolan Arenado all offseason one year after signing him to a massive eight-year deal.
Those rumors have now been shut down by the Rockies front office, yet only hours later, Arenado himself responded to the situation. He was not exactly pleased with his bosses and specifically, with general manager Jeff Bridich.
“You ask what I thought of Jeff’s quotes and I say I don’t care what people say around there,” Arenado said. “There is a lot of disrespect.”
He was asked about what specifically was disrespectful, only to reply by saying, "No. I won't get into the details."
Colorado signed Arenado to the eight-year deal worth $260 million that features a no-trade clause. What followed was a disappointing 2019 season that saw the Rockies regress, and now the team has failed to make serious upgrades.
It is almost like the Rockies are playing the victim after making the decision to offer Arenado such a big deal. He was signed to be a star and is openly being shopped one year later.
The deal does include an opt-out after 2021 so perhaps the front office is trying to pressure him out. Though if he does leave, the Rockies would lose one of the best players in franchise history due to poor management.
No wonder Arenado feels disrespected.
