Nolan Arenado Says He'll Play in Colorado or Elsewhere With Singular Goal in Mind

It sure sounds like Nolan Arenado might've tempered his expectations with the Colorado Rockies, ever so slightly.

Arenado had previously disclosed his discontent with the Rockies direction and GM Jeff Bridich. Despite being mentioned in trade talks since then, Arenado is reporting to Spring Training as a member of the Rockies organization, and is willing to stay assuming they adhere to one condition -- bring in the necessary pieces to form a winner.

"The perception of me right now, some people have different things, right?" Arenado said. "It's, 'Oh, you make money, keep your mouth shut. You signed this deal,' and this and that. But, at the end of the day, man, people misunderstand. ... I only get one chance at this. I have seven years left on my deal. I don't know how it's all going to turn out and I want to win.

That's actually quite reasonable. Given the length and amount of money on Arenado's contract, Colorado could've gotten complacent should their star let them. However, similar to other sports (think:NBA), Arenado is using his platform to perhaps pressure Bridich to move up his timetable.

If not, he should stop wasting Arenado's time and deal him elsewhere.
