UNC Football Gets Hammered for Tweet Celebrating Bowl Game in DC That's Actually in Annapolis

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is one of the finest academic institutions in the entire country, but even they aren't above a tremendously shocking brain fart. Mack Brown and quarterback Sam Howell led the Tar Heels to an appearance against Temple in the Military Bowl, but Tar Heels Twitter, however, must think that they're going to Washington, DC instead of Annapolis -- you know, where the game is actually taking place -- as they put out a tweet explaining that they're heading to the nation's capital.

Might want to brush off the third grade social studies textbook, folks.

The social media's many trolls were naturally here for it -- despite the Heels' effort to hide numerous replies.

UNC Twitter attempted to hide a bunch of critical replies. Valiant attempt, people.

The bowl's official account tried to offer UNC Twitter an escape route by mentioning they're heading to the DC area in the build up to this game, but hey, it was a weak attempt.

Don't you bail them out, Military Bowl! Let them suffer through their evening with Twitter's dunce cap on.

For a program that recently had to overcome an academics schedule in the decade, this isn't a good look for North Carolina.

For the Duke fans that will look for any and every advantage over their in-state rivals, here's more fodder.

Moments like this will fairly bowl you over.
