Official MLB Account Absolutely Destroys Maple Leafs While Celebrating Toronto Championship
By Mark Powell
We're happy Toronto has another champion, but there's one clear omission as far as their professional sports ranks go with recent success. The Maple Leafs, perhaps the team with the most fan intrigue in the entire NHL, haven't won a Stanley Cup since 1967.
So, when the Raptors won the NBA Title on Friday night, there were plenty of jokes to be made. In fact, even the official MLB account got in on the action by leaving the Leafs completely out of their graphic congratulating the Raps while also celebrating Joe Carter's famous home run to beat the Phillies in the early 90's.
Oh my, this social media manager deserves a raise.
The Maple Leafs Stanley Cup drought is discussed on a yearly basis, as Toronto continues to increase payroll and bring in the biggest stars in hopes of ending their national nightmare. Instead, even this year post-John Tavares signing, the Leafs fell short to the eventual Eastern Conference champion Boston Bruins.
The hype remains for the Leafs entering a critical offseason. That is, assuming they can get past this incredible burn from MLB.
