Ohio State Deserves to Be New No. 1 After Louisville Loss
By Michael Luciano
Ohio State's football team has two Heisman candidates and have an average margin of victory of 36.2 points, and they STILL might not be the best team on campus given how hot their basketball team has been.
Following Louisville's loss to Texas Tech on Tuesday, there is a clear opening for Ohio State to leapfrog Kansas and take the No. 1 ranking.
The Buckeyes may lack a true superstar, but they make up for it with depth and defense. The Wesson brothers, Kaleb and Andre, have been dominant inside, while the likes of DJ Carton and Luther Muhammad have been lethal from the outside. Currently, eight different Buckeyes are averaging more than seven points per game.
They are ranked fifth in the country in defense, as they are allowing just 54.7 points per game. With wins over North Carolina, Villanova, and Penn State to their name, Chris Holtmann's Buckeyes are the clear choice to be ranked No. 1.
The Buckeyes have been suffocating the most up-tempo offenses in college basketball, and still have an unblemished record. They have a resume that outshines everyone else across college basketball, which should put them at No. 1 in the rankings.
