Ohio State Fans Can Re-Live Michigan Getting Screwed in 2016 Matchup on Thursday Night
By Jerry Trotta
Any Ohio State fans having trouble passing the time in quarantine will be treated to some special medicine on Thursday night.
Per reports, ESPN will air the famous 2016 clash between the Buckeyes and bitter rival Michigan that saw OSU come out on top after a 4th-down measurement in double overtime. There was also a gaffe by the ABC telecast, which failed to provide referees (and viewers) with an adequate camera angle of the play.
We can still picture it.
On a 4th-and-1, quarterback JT Barrett made a run for the marker and referees determined that he got enough for the first down, though that's still up for debate in one of the most controversial spots in recent memory. One play later wide receiver Curtis Samuel took a handoff 15 yards to the house to give the Buckeyes a 30-27 win over the Wolverines, whose fan base vehemently claims that the game should've ended on Barrett's run.
It marked Ohio State's fifth consecutive victory over Michigan, and the winning streak has since reached eight. Of the last 20 matchups, the Buckeyes have come out on top a whopping 18 times. This controversial ending really struck a dagger in the hears of the Ann Arbor faithful as the Wolverines were literally inches away from toppling their most hated rival.
