JK Dobbins-Chiefs Rumors Are Picking up and the Fit Makes Perfect Sense

With pick No. 32 in the upcoming NFL Draft, the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs have an intriguing choice to make. Young blood will be crucial to maintaining their fledgling dynasty, especially with an impending Patrick Mahomes contract extension on the horizon.
If recent rumors are to be believed, they may consider swooping in for Ohio State's JK Dobbins, one of the top rushers in this years draft. All told, it's the kind of pick that makes sense for a team that values a high-flying offense above just about everything else.
NFL insider Field Yates sounded off on Twitter about the potential pick and how well it fits KC's roster. With much of the core on their Super Bowl-winning squad returning, Dobbins would be an upgrade for an already impressive Chiefs group.
Their current No, 1 running back, Damien Williams, is coming off a great postseason, but for much of the year he was a bit of a non-factor. He only stacked up 498 yards in the regular season, while Dobbins has the potential to be an every-down back that could give the Chiefs' dynamic offense a special kind of edge.
Dobbins rushed for 2,003 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2019 with the Scarlet and Gary. That's pracically unbelievable. He's a workhorse back that can provide instant offense at the pro level, and for a team that specializes in the vertical passing game like Kansas City, he's an ideal addition to help diversify the playbook and keep Andy Reid and Co. on schedule.
Defenses already have to respect Mahomes and what he can do with his arsenal of pass-catchers. Adding Dobbins would prevent opponents from dropping extra defenders deep all game long. In the big picture, if he's available at No. 32, the Chiefs should pounce on him.
