While a perennial College Football Playoff team in Oklahoma is losing one of their top running backs, another is gaining a deadly new weapon on offense.

Former Oklahoma running back Trey Sermon announced that he will play for Ryan Day at Ohio State during his final college football season.

Sermon's 2019 season was cut short by injuries that limited him to just 54 carries, but his two prior seasons are more indicative of the type of runner he is. Over the 2017 and 2018 seasons, Sermon ran for 1,691 yards while finding the end zone 18 times on the ground.

Sermon, known for his speed and quick cuts at the line of scrimmage, is expected to split carries with Buckeyes running back Master Teague III, who piled up 789 yards rushing as the backup to JK Dobbins last season. The thought of those two splitting carries with Justin Fields at quarterback has the potential to be downright unfair.

Sermon confirmed the transfer on Twitter, and it appears the 221 pound back has added some muscle.

Day is nothing if not creative, so adding a player of Sermon's caliber to a Buckeye backfield that already figured to be among the best in all of college football has the potential to shred the rest of the Big Ten.
