Ohio State Was the Big Winner From Day 1 of Senior Bowl Practice
By Michael Luciano
The likes of Texas' Collin Johnson, USC's Michael Pittman, and Florida's Van Jefferson showed that they could make a pro team very happy at the first day of Senior Bowl practices in Mobile, but a former Ohio State Buckeye upstaged them all.
If we were to declare a "winner" among the skill position players in Mobile from Day of Senior Bowl practices, it would easily be Ohio State's KJ Hill, who gave us all the highlight of the afternoon on a nasty corner route.
Hill's speed, route running, and soft hands raised the eyebrows of quite a few scouts in Mobile, and it was just the beginning of a dominant day for the Buckeyes.
Auburn's Marlon Davidson and Oklahoma's Neville Gallimore stood out on the defensive line, but Davon Hamilton was right there with them. The 327-pound lineman was remarkably flexible for his size, showing enough bend and burst to win plenty of 1v1 reps.
St. John's Ben Bartch and Washington's Nick Harris were among the best interior lineman, but Jonah Jackson showed the anchor ability, relentless, and technique to handle both power and pass rush counters with skill, capping off a terrific day on the North team side of affairs for the former Buckeye.
The Buckeyes are fresh off dominating the East-West Shrine Bowl thanks to Binjimen Victor and Branden Bowen, and things are looking up for Ryan Day's former stars in Mobile.
