VIDEO: Oklahoma State's Mike Gundy Apologizes for OAN Shirt and Surprisingly Owns it

Mike Gundy found himself in hot water on Monday when standout running back Chuba Hubbard called him out on Twitter after a photo of the Oklahoma State head coach donning a shirt that featured the logo of far-right television network "One America News" surfaced on social media. The 52-year-old has since spent his time working to salvage his brand and patch things up with Hubbard. Well, Gundy took things a step further on Tuesday by posting an apology in which he acknowledged how much he offended his players and Cowboys fans.

Gundy notes that he held a meeting with his players and that they helped him realize why OAN is so polarizing in political circles. The veteran HC wasn't fully aware of how the "network felt about Black Lives Matter," and inferred that he never would've sported the shirt had he been educated on its beliefs and traditions. Of course, OAN is known for its endorsement of President Donald Trump, infatuation with outlandish conspiracy theories and, most importantly in this context, linking the BLM movement to criminals.

It still doesn't sit right that Hubbard came forward with an apology before Gundy -- especially since the star RB had absolutely nothing to feel guilty about -- but at least it appears that he's willing to do what it takes to win back the respect of his players and the Oklahoma State fan base. He's far from out of the woods, but this apology was certainly a step in the right direction in making amends with the dozens of individuals he offended.
