Larry Warford's Salary Demands in Free Agency to Likely Narrow Down Potential Destinations

Any team would love to have one of the best guards in football on their roster, but former New Orleans Saints Pro Bowler Larry Warford is not going to come cheap.

Warford is angling for a new $7 million deal after his release in New Orleans. His deal would put him in the top 20 in terms of highest-paid guards next season. That's going to limit the number of landing spots available.

Warford's salary demands are not outrageous considering he made the Pro Bowl in each of his three seasons as a Saint. He was released, however, after the Saints gave Andrus Peat a contract extension and drafted Michigan center Cesar Ruiz in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Chicago Bears were kicking the tires on Warford, but eventually dropped out of the race. The Houston Texans remain interested, while the New York Jets could also be a potential landing spot if they cut veteran Brian Winters.

There is a 28-year-old guard with three straight Pro Bowls at a position that doesn't have many players of his caliber on the market, and he is still not on an NFL roster. Eventually, however, someone will wise up and realize what a game-changing addition Warford could be if they agree to his salary demands.
