Oregon Lands 5-Star Center N'Faly Dante Over Kentucky
By Jerry Trotta
Dana Altman and the Oregon Ducks basketball program just scored a MAJOR recruiting victory.
Five-star center N'Faly Dante has committed to the Ducks over prestigious blue blood, Kentucky. The young star stands as the third-highest rated prospect the Oregon program has landed in its history.
Dante even announced his highly-anticipated decision in a story he himself published for The Players' Tribune in an emotional piece addressed to his mother, who lives back home in Mali.
"I’ve put a lot of thought into it, and I’m excited to tell you that next year I’m going to be attending college and playing basketball at the University of Oregon," wrote Dante. "Oregon has a program that reflects a lot of the values you taught me when I was growing up. And I hope that someday I get to show you around Eugene..."
This marks the second consecutive season Altman and Co. have landed a lauded center recruit. Of course, projected top-five NBA prospect Bol Bol (before his leg injury) chose to play for the Ducks prior to the 2018 campaign.
The 6-foot-11 prospect will reportedly reclassify from the 2020 class to 2019 and plans to join the squad later in August to begin training for the upcoming season. He had offers from more than 20 schools and narrowed his choices down to Oregon, Kentucky, Kansas and LSU.
What a get for the Ducks!
