Orioles to Face Red Sox in 2020 Little League Classic
By Michael Luciano
After two resounding successes with the Little League Classic game from Bowman Field in Williamsport, PA, two of the games' oldest franchises will take part in the 2020 exhibition.
The Baltimore Orioles and Boston Red Sox have agreed to play in the 2020 Little League Classic on August 23 of next year.
The first version of this game came in 2017, when the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 6-3. The New York Mets took the 2018 game in an 8-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies.
The 2019 game, which will coincide with the finals of the Little League World Series, will feature the Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates.
Williamsport is more than just home to the Single-A Williamsport Crosscutters. It's a baseball institution that has helped foster the growth of the game through Little League and the Little League World Series. It's nice to see Rob Manfred pay homage to what the city has meant to the game by continuing this exhibition series.
