Orioles' Latest Positive Update on Trey Mancini Still Includes Very Cautious Timeline for His Recovery
By Adam Weinrib

Baltimore Orioles fans experienced a strange set of emotions this offseason when they received a diagnosis on slugging stalwart Trey Mancini's mystery ailment.
After learning Mancini had undergone a procedure to remove a mass from his colon, fans turned their energy towards hoping for a full recovery, while tossing their usual baseball concerns to the background.
O's manager Mike Elias' latest update on Mancini's condition maintains that same perspective -- he's doing perfectly well, but that doesn't translate to a swift return to baseball.
Mike Elias said Trey Mancini doing well. In good spot to make 100 percent recovery. But will be out months not weeks. No recovery timeline in terms of a baseball season #orioles

While that's good news overall, it will still be quite a while before we see Mancini take to the diamond in any capacity.
Presuming baseball returns in 2020 (far from a safe presumption, to be fair), Baltimore will likely be without their leader for the duration of the season, or something close to it.
We're all facing problems right now. For many, big problems. I get it. Today Orioles outfielder Trey Mancini celebrated his 28th birthday, while recovering from cancer surgery. And who reached out to him? Super fan Mo Gabba, a middle schooler fighting cancer himself. Gold. pic.twitter.com/ac0NX4LyE6

A full recovery is all that matters right now, and Americans in the midst of a public health crisis have never been more aware that the sporting impact of Mancini's absence has rightfully taken the back burner right now. Whether it's weeks, months, or a year, we hope the face of the Orioles reclaims his rightful throne at full strength.
