Hacking Group OurMine Infiltrates Official Twitter Accounts of NFL and Over a Dozen Teams
By Jackson Thompson
The hacking group known as OurMine continues to spread its message across the NFL Twitter-scape. On Monday, the group took over the league's official Twitter page, as well as at least 15 different teams' accounts.
The group began its takeover yesterday with its Twitter heist of the Chicago Bears. The hackers claim that their intentions are to encourage users improve their account security by showing them that anything can be hacked.
By hacking these NFL team pages and the league's itself, OurMine has spread its message to millions and millions of combined followers.
And they haven't shown any signs of slowing down quite yet.
OurMine first rose to prominence in 2016, infiltrating the Twitter accounts of several tech executives, including Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg. They later expanded their reach to accounts associated with organizations like NFL Network, whose Twitter account they infiltrated in December of 2016 with a similar cause -- testing the strength of "your" security.
The group, reportedly based in Saudi Arabia, also spread its attacks to several other official and unofficial NFL-related pages Monday across Instagram. Get strapped in, folks. If your team hasn't been OurMine'd yet, it may very well be next.
