One of ESPN's most respected NFL analysts just broke down the passing of the torch that could soon transpire between Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love. Let's just say that the segment won't come to the delight of Green Bay Packers fans. Louis Riddick appeared on "Get Up" on Thursday and claimed that Love, the team's No. 26 overall selection in the NFL Draft, isn't going to sit for three years on his rookie contract. He followed that up by stating that Rodgers, assuming the Utah State product's development is up to par, will be quarterbacking elsewhere come 2022.

It's almost impossible to deny that Riddick's assessment makes complete sense because sitting a first-round QB for a majority of his rookie deal is hardly a smart idea. Take how perfectly set up the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens are with Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson still on their rookie contracts, for example.
In theory, Love's contract would make the decision to swallow Rodgers' cap hit in 2021 much easier to reckon with. As far as alternative options are concerned, there will be few and far between for Green Bay in the next two years.

They were one game away from the Super Bowl last year... so instead of helping Rodgers, they take his potential successor.
Though the more realistic option for this to happen is 2022, we can't rule anything out given how the Packers surprised us throughout the draft with all their moves.
As much as this scenario will infuriate fans in Green Bay, Riddick seems to have hit the nail on the head because we doubt the Packers will wait four full years before throwing Love into the starting lineup.
