Packers Activate Safety Raven Greene Ahead of NFC Championship Clash With 49ers
By Karl Rasmussen
With a Super Bowl berth on the line, the Green Bay Packers will be looking for their defense to step up and stop Jimmy Garoppolo and the 49ers offense when it counts.
Well, Mike Pettine's group just received some positive news ahead of Sunday's NFC Championship clash. Safety Raven Greene, who had been placed on IR back in September with an ankle injury, is set to return to the active roster heading into game day.
Greene featured in just two games this year before missing the bulk of the regular season with the ankle injury. He logged six total tackles and defended one pass. He figured to be an important part of this D before sustaining the injury, having appeared in 77% of the Packers' defensive snaps in Week 1.
The Packers snagged Greene as an undrafted free agent out of James Madison, and he featured in eight games last year, mostly on special teams.
The 24-year-old has been practicing for the past two weeks as he gears up for his return. While he may not see significant snaps in his first game back, his availability as a depth piece could prove most valuable.
