Packers Add RB Darrin Hall And Waive Offensive Lineman Larry Williams
By Michael Luciano
While it did cost them a promising young guard, the Green Bay Packers were able to pick up one of the most dynamic UDFA running backs that the 2019 draft class has to offer.
The Packers picked up former Pitt running back Darrin Hall off of waivers from the Cincinnati Bengals. In order to make room for him on the roster, they released former Oklahoma State guard Larry Williams.
Hall was rarely in the spotlight in college due to the presence of second team All-ACC running back and Atlanta Falcons fifth-round pick Qadree Ollison. However, the 207 pound Hall often served as the lightning to the 6-2, 230 pound Ollison's thunder.
With 1,144 yards and 10 touchdowns on a Pitt team that made it to the ACC Championship Game -- albeit to be dismantled by Clemson -- Hall more than proved his worth at the college level. It remains a mystery how a player with his speed and vision could go undrafted.
The Packers may not have a bell cow back, but they've now got four or five running backs capable of toting the rock at the NFL level.
