The Packers Need to Sign Breshad Perriman or Devin Funchess if They Don't Plan on Drafting a WR

The 2020 NFL Draft is scheduled to be one of the deepest in recent memory at the wide receiver position, leading many to believe the Green Bay Packers will use pick No. 30 on one of those talented wide receivers.

However, the loss of Blake Martinez and Kyler Fackrell in free agency has led some to believe that Green Bay could use their first-round pick to beef up their defense. If they eschew using a premium pick on a wide receiver, Brian Gutekunst needs to get former Indianapolis Colts wideout Devin Funchess or former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Breshad Perriman to agree to a deal.

These two receivers have arguably the two most divergent skillsets in the league. Perriman is a skinny deep threat who struggles against physical corners while Funchess is a big body who causes red zone havoc but couldn't outrun my grandmother.

If deployed properly, like Funchess was in his first few seasons in Carolina or how Bruce Arians used Perriman in Tampa Bay, Matt LaFleur might have found a cost-effective option to take some of the pressure off of Davante Adams.

The Packers need a No. 2 wide receiver opposite Adams, but they also need to add a deep threat and a big body they can use for slot mismatches. If pick No. 30 isn't going to be used on a wide receiver, one of these two receivers needs to end up at Lambeau next season.
