Packers Complete Trade for Linebacker BJ Goodson From the Giants
With Week 1 of the NFL season only three days away, the Packers are working to finalize their roster ahead of a showdown with the Chicago Bears. Well, it looks like some defensive help in the middle of the field is on the way.
According to multiple reports, Green Bay has acquired 26-year-old linebacker BJ Goodson from the New York Giants.
New York was planning to waive Goodson, but was able to trade him instead. It's unclear at the moment what the Giants are getting in return. For Green Bay, they've received a hard-hitting 'backer who posted 61 tackles and two interceptions in 2018. With Oren Burks hurt, he fills into that gap.
A Clemson product, Goodson checks in at 6'1", 248 pounds. Goodson is entering his fourth season in the NFL. In his three years in the league, he's played in 37 games and made 20 starts. He won't be expected to be a superstar in Green Bay, but he certainly has the potential to make a difference each week.
