Packers Confirm RB Jamaal Williams is in NFL Concussion Protocol
By Jerry Trotta
Football fans across the nation were forced to hold their collective breaths on Thursday night when Green Bay Packers running back Jamaal Williams was knocked out cold after a a vicious and alarmingly belated helmet-to-helmet hit by Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Derek Barnett.
Williams was ultimately stretchered off the field and taken to a nearby hospital to undergo further tests, and he reassured Packers fans of his status on Instagram afterward.
The good news surrounding this once daunting storyline continued on Monday when ESPN's Rob Demovsky reported that the third-year RB was present in Green Bay's locker room, though he wasn't allowed to converse with teammates, as he is in the NFL's concussion protocol.
Williams did not partake in the Pack's Monday practice, and we would consider a longshot to suit up for Monday night's Week 5 clash against the Lions at Lambeau Field barring further developments.
Regardless, its a relief to hear that the BYU product is up and moving just days removed from one of the most jarring hits that you will see on the gridiron.
All thats left to do now is wait to see how Williams progresses in terms of passing the league's concussion policy. As we know, it's a comprehensive process, so stay tuned.
