This Packers-Titans Trade for Former Top Pick Corey Davis Could Get Aaron Rodgers a Shiny New Toy

The Tennessee Titans didn't pick up former first-round pick Corey Davis' fifth-year option, freeing up the opportunity for the Western Michigan product to test free agency in a year. Instead of waiting for the inevitable, Tennessee should get what they can for him now, and the Packers are an ideal trade partner, as the rumors begin to spread.

Acquiring Davis would do a lot for GM Brian Gutekunst and the Packers in repairing their relationship with Rodgers after trading up to draft his potential replacement in Jordan Love. Outside of Davante Adams, Green Bay is lacking a significant threat as a No. 2, despite signing Devin Funchess this offseason.

Trading for Davis wouldn't take much, either, as the Titans understand the reality they're in -- the 25-year-old's future in Nashville is limited. A 2021 fourth-round pick should be enough for the Packers to add Davis to their receiving corps in Rodgers' final years.

Davis isn't the No. 1 option many thought he'd be upon his entry into the NFL. Instead, he's a stable No. 2, and his numbers over the past few years reflect that. In 2018 and 2019, Davis had 891 and 601 yards, respectively. When factoring in that he had Marcus Mariota and Ryan Tannehill throwing passes to him, one can assume a generous statistical uptick with a QB the caliber of Rodgers.

Unfortunately, he didn't log more than a single catch in any 2019 playoff game, but his most recent season of game logs includes an impressive five-catch, 91-yard effort against Atlanta, and six catches for 80 against the Chargers.

We see no reason not to make this deal a reality.
