Packers Cut Former Lions TE They Literally Just Signed
By Michael Luciano
Does anyone want Michael Roberts on their team? Plenty of NFL franchises might claim to want the former fourth-round pick as a red zone target, but he's been dropped by three of them in the span of a week.
Roberts was originally headed to New England after the Detroit Lions traded him. However, a failed physical saw the trade nullified and Roberts released. The Green Bay Packers picked him up, but cut him just days after the initial transaction due to another failed physical.
Well, that was a good use of a waiver claim, wasn't it?
Roberts might have been a disappointing pick, but he still has some value as a No. 3 tight end and blocker. With 3 touchdowns last season, the former Toledo Rocket could still help a team looking for help in a goal line package.
Not even a week ago, Roberts was a Detroit Lion who was heading into the year as a depth tight end. Since then he's been a Patriot, a Lion again, a Packer, and now a free agent. The life of a tight end on the roster bubble isn't a glamorous one right now.
