Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Mike Pettine made it clear young cornerback Kevin King has had his struggles this season. However, that isn´t the only thing he said about the University of Washington product.

Pettine praised King for some of his performances this season, and even took some blame for his struggles.

Pettine attributed much of King's poor performance to his own tendency to put cornerbacks "on an island", something they can't all handle. However, he also noted some of King's best play this year has come with safety help, exemplified by King's interception against the New York Giants last week.

Despite his struggles, King still has four interceptions on the season, the most on the team. Plus, King can compare those four interceptions in 12 games this season, despite injury woes, to just one in 15 games in his first two seasons.

With Green Bay sitting atop the NFC North at 9-3, there is also probably some leeway for any faults King has had. However, he will need to bring his best stuff come postseason time.
